Summer School guide for parents
We’re looking forward to welcoming your child/ren for a fun-packed summer of singing, dancing, acting and outside play.
Parents and friends can come and enjoy a short performance by the children at 9.30am-10am each Friday.
Arrival and collection
Depending on your booking, all children must be:
- signed in at the front desk at 8.30am or 9.30am
- signed out at the front desk at 3.30pm or 5pm
If there is an emergency and you can’t collect on time then please call Debbie or Paulene on 01245 476 335, giving as much notice as possible. We can make alternative arrangements in exceptional circumstances.
If you want to collect your child early then please sign them out at the front desk.
If anyone else is collecting your child then please enter their name in the collection book at reception.

Parking
There is limited parking at the school, but parents/carers can park in surrounding streets.
If you’re staying for the 9.30am performance on Friday please park on the street once the car park is full. Please don’t double park or block anyone in.
Things to bring
Each child should arrive in comfortable clothing such as:
- Tracksuit/shorts
- Leggings
- t-shirt
- trainers (for playing outside)
Each child should also bring:
- Packed lunch and drinks for the whole day
- Sun hat and sun cream
- Coat/jacket if weather demands it.
- Colouring pencils and pens
Children should arrive with sun cream already applied. Staff are not able to apply sun cream for them.
Things not to bring
Please don’t send your child/ren in open toe shoes, high heels, platforms or Heeleys.
Valuable items should be left at home including mobile phones. If mobile phones are brought in they will be locked in the office until the end of the day.
Accidents and sickness
All our staff are trained in basic First Aid.
If your child has an accident we’ll contact you on the emergency number that you’ve provided. Collecting parents must sign the accident book at the registration desk.
If your child has a contagious illness such as chickenpox, impetigo or a sickness bug please keep them at home for 48 hours.
If your child needs medicine during the day you must provide a letter which tells us the name of the medicine, how much to give and how often. We keep all medicine in the office, or the fridge with the exception of inhalers.
Personal items and valuables
Essex Dance Theatre can’t take responsibility for any loss or damage to personal items or valuables.
